Okay, after many months of busy-work, I am officially a licensed childcare provider. Don't get me wrong, this wasn't necessarily a hard title to achieve, it just involved so many little details. But, we now have a nice fence in our backyard. This was required because of our close proximity to the pond. And, of course, our development has guidelines as to what type of fence we can have... so we chose to have black vinyl-coated chain-link. I wasn't really to excited about getting a fence, since we have such a natural backyard setting, but it turned out better than I had expected. Because of being licensed, we are now the proud owners of two fire extinguishers. We have escape routes placed throughout the house, lots of cupboard locks, safe cribs, emergency numbers, CPR and first-aid certification, the list goes on and on... but we are officially safe! (not to mention the small fortune it costs to become licensed.) Since I do have a Master's degree in teaching with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education, I am going to be implementing a morning preschool curriculum. I was doing an activity with the kids last week, and one of the little girls said, "Let's pretend you are the teacher!" Will they ever take me seriously?!?
