Wow, what a summer it was! We have gone through some big changes over the past few months. We moved into our new house over Labor Day weekend. A big, huge thanks to all that helped us with that. I am still in awe of all the stuff we have accumulated. I think we all have much more than we need. The house isn't done yet, but it's getting close. We are all living on one level of our house- I bet Jakob can't wait for us to get our queen-size mattress off his bedroom floor! It's quite cozy, and there are still boxes everywhere. I have learned more about home remodeling than I ever really cared to know. My kitchen cupboards are done now- they look much better. My dad and I built a new banister for our entryway stairs. I grouted the entire basement, painted, hung new blinds... we put new vinyl siding up, new stones on the front of the house, new deck.... I am exhausted! We are so thankful to all the people who have helped lend a hand.
The kids seem to be adjusting well. Jakob started third grade. He has no problem making new friends. He was already invited to a birthday party. There are a couple of neighbors with kids our age, so that is good, considering we came from a neighborhood with enough kids to fill our own school bus! Hannah started kindergarten. She absolutely loves it. Her teacher is awesome, and says that Hannah brightens every one of her days! =) Emmy also started preschool as well. She, however, isn't quite as excited as the other two. She would just as soon stay at home with mom for the rest of her life! She told me after her first day that "her feelings didn't cry."
Other fun news... Jakob auditioned for the Minnesota Boychoir at the Landmark Center in St. Paul, and he was invited to join on the spot. This is quite an honor for him, as there are only 20 boys in this choir. I will post a link to their website.
Their first two performances will be:
Dec. 16th @ Faith Lutheran in Forest Lake (3pm)
Jan. 6th @ Landmark Center in St Paul (1pm)
Jakob and Hannah are also taking Suzuki violin lessons. This is Hannah's first year, and Jakob's second.
One other fun thing we did this summer was an impromptu trip to Minnetonka to welcome an "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" family home. It was really fun to watch all the excitement, and of course to see Ty Pennington! I believe the show will air around Thanksgiving time on ABC. Look for us in the background when the crowd is yelling "Move that bus!"
Again, I will post before and after pictures of the house when I can find them on my camera (or when I can find my camera!) I hope you are all doing well, and enjoying the beautiful fall colors.
Take care,
Jen
