I can't believe it has been more than three months since I've updated. Life has been crazy. Do you ever have those events in your life where you look back and think, "that was a really stressful time?" I think we are in the middle of one of those times... We have been working like mad-men on our other house. We have pulled carpet, replaced all fixtures, put KILZ on everything, scraped ceilings and resprayed. The list goes on. Max and his dad are working on finishing the basement. The house that we have is a split-entry from 1985. The people that lived there never finished the basement or put up a deck. We are putting a master bedroom with a walk-in closet and bathroom, family room, laundry, and storage. Needless to say, we are hardly ever at our Lindstrom home. We will be moving sometime in August before school starts. Jakob and Hannah think it's cool that they will be going to the same school that daddy did when he was little.
Speaking of school, Hannah can't wait to go to kindergarten. I was overhearing a conversation between her and Jakob the other day. Jakob was asking if she is afraid to go to a new school. (Keep in mind any school is new to her!) Her reply was "No!" Jakob is a little more leery, of course. He realizes that he won't have all of his same friends again. Overall though, he doesn't seem to be too upset about moving. I think that I will have a bit of an adjustment. I have been really lucky to have such a wonderful neighborhood here in Lindstrom. We are comfortable with all of our neighbors. The kids run like we used to when we were kids. All the moms stay at home. There's always someone around. I will miss my good friends terribly. You know the saying "it takes a village to raise a child?" This has really been an excellent village for us.
Okay, enough on that front... can you see what is consuming our lives right now?!
My mom and I will be taking a trip to Santa Fe, NM in August. We will be visiting my brother Brian. I am excited to get away. I don't think my mom and I have ever done something like this before. I get a four day weekend with no responsibilities. What's that like?! Of course the mommy in me will be thinking about everyone back home. It should be a good experience for dad too! Maybe everyone will appreciate me a bit more? Hmmm...
We also had a nice little get-away over the Fourth. All of us went up to Walker, MN/Leech Lake. Uncle Nick and Amanda were there as well as Nonnie, Opa, Great Aunt Cookie, and Great Uncle Tom. This is our fifth or sixth time up there over the Fourth. Good family bonding time!
We've also added five new babies to our extended family since my last post. My cousin Jill had a baby girl, Karly Ann, in May. Her sister had identical twin girls a month later- Maya and Lauren. Max's cousin Rana, had a baby girl, Peyton, in May. And his other cousin, Margene, had a boy, Dax, in May. We can't wait to meet all of them!
I will get some pictures of the kids and house posted soon. I hope you are all having a great summer. Only six weeks left. =(
